Heating

Hydronic

A heating system that uses hot water circulated through pipes to deliver heat via radiators, baseboard heaters, or radiant floor systems.

What Is a Hydronic?

Hydronic systems heat water in a boiler and circulate it through a closed loop of pipes to heat emitters throughout your home. Common emitters include cast iron radiators, baseboard convectors, fan coils, and in-floor radiant tubing. Hydronic heating is valued for its quiet operation, even heat distribution, and ability to zone easily since each loop can be controlled independently. It doesn't blow air, which means no dust circulation and better comfort for allergy sufferers.

Why It Matters for Your Home

While less common in newer Southern Oregon construction, hydronic heating remains popular in some older homes and in high-end new construction. These systems require specialized knowledge that not every HVAC technician has. If your home uses hydronic heating, make sure you're working with a contractor who has genuine experience with these systems.
