Heating
Boiler
A heating system that uses hot water or steam distributed through pipes and radiators to heat your home, rather than forced air through ducts.
What Is a Boiler?
Unlike a furnace that heats air, a boiler heats water and distributes it through a network of pipes to radiators, baseboard heaters, or radiant floor systems throughout your home. Some boilers produce steam instead of hot water. Boilers can run on natural gas, propane, oil, or electricity. While less common in newer Southern Oregon construction, many older homes still rely on boiler systems for their even, comfortable heat distribution.
Why It Matters for Your Home
Boiler systems provide consistent, even heat without the drafts that forced-air systems can create. However, they require specialized knowledge for maintenance and repair. Not every HVAC technician has experience working on boilers, so finding a contractor with the right expertise is essential.
