Zoning System

A setup that divides your home into separate temperature zones, each with its own thermostat, allowing different rooms to be heated or cooled to different temperatures.

What Is a Zoning System?

An HVAC zoning system uses motorized dampers installed inside your ductwork, multiple thermostats (one per zone), and a zone control panel to direct conditioned air only where it's needed. For example, you can keep bedrooms cooler at night while reducing heating in unoccupied living areas. Zoning solves common problems like upstairs rooms being too hot in summer, rooms over garages being uncomfortable, or different family members preferring different temperatures.

Why It Matters for Your Home

If you have rooms that are always too hot or too cold regardless of thermostat settings, a zoning system might be the answer. However, zoning must be designed and installed correctly — improper zoning can create static pressure problems that damage your equipment. The ductwork, equipment, and bypass damper all need to work together as a system.
