Humidity

The amount of moisture (water vapor) in the air, which directly affects your comfort, health, and HVAC system performance.

What Is a Humidity?

Relative humidity measures how much moisture is in the air compared to the maximum it can hold at that temperature. Ideal indoor humidity is between 30-50%. Too high and you get mold growth, musty odors, and that sticky uncomfortable feeling. Too low and you get dry skin, static electricity, and cracked wood. Your AC system naturally removes some humidity during cooling, but Southern Oregon's dry summers and wet winters can create challenges that may require additional humidity control solutions.

Why It Matters for Your Home

Humidity problems often masquerade as temperature problems. A home at 72°F with 65% humidity feels much warmer than the same home at 45% humidity. If you're constantly adjusting your thermostat but never feel comfortable, humidity may be the real issue. Addressing humidity can improve comfort without lowering the thermostat, saving energy in the process.
